Great, Kevin had been sent to detention again, because unknowingly; he'd started humming one of the band's new songs in class. Needless to say, his math teacher had not appreciated it very much when it had started distracting the other students. So, here he was.
Nobody else was in the room yet; which was just as well for Kevin. It wasn't like he was a loner, he had friends. He was just quiet and didn't mind being alone. His bandmates were a lot louder then he was, and he didn't mind letting them be the center of attention. He'd rather sit back and enjoy the ride then be right up front.
He liked girls, and he liked to impress them; but he didn't feel the need to go all out to try to do so. Actually, one particular girl had been on his mind more then he'd like lately. Hayley Moss. It wasn't that he was totally against having relationships, he was just way too obsessed with his music so he didn't really want to spend money or time on a girl. But actually, Hayley was making him rethink that a bit. Still, he wasn't so sure that she liked him or not. They were friends, for sure. And maybe that's all he wanted. He wasn't sure.
His other bandmates had girlfriends, and they did just fine. They still put the band high on the priority list. Kevin had been scared that they wouldn't. But, it had all turned out good for them. But he wasn't exactly envious that they had girlfriends and he didn't. He could live without one for the time being.
But still, he couldn't help but think about Hayley from time to time. And sometimes, he almost wished that he had the guts to say something. But say what? He wasn't even sure about his own mind.
He sighed and sat down in the back of the room, putting his backpack right by the chair. Automatically, he started humming that same song he'd been humming in class, and he didn't really even realize it.
