Ivory lay on her bed, looking up at the ceiling. One hand was behind her head and the other was fiddling with a pencil. Ivory had been in that position for awhile and one of her purple socked feet was falling asleep. Finally she decided to sit up and change her position. As she sat up, Ivory ran her fingers through her extremely messy hair. She grumbled a bit and set the pick down on her pillow.
Ivory was wearing a black, scoop neck, t-shirt from Ed Hardy. Her slim, black jeans were rather long and she had to hike them up as she put on black converse. She quickly plugged in her hair straightener and straightened her hair after she decided to go out. She had been lazy most weekends and she needed to get out of the house. The only place she could think of was the Coffee Bean.
Ivory grabbed her keys and helmet and went down to where he scooter was parked. Ivory had always been fascinated with motorcycles and her first boyfriend gave her her first ride on his Triumph. Since then she had been saving up to buy her own as her mother disapproved of motorcycles. Surprisingly her father had bought her a Vespa when she passed her motorcycle license test.
Ivory got to the Coffee Bean in ten minutes. Once there she ordered the usual, Caramel Ice Blend. She had been terribly upset when they had discontinued the Chai Ice Blend, but caramel was almost just as good. Once she got her drink, she moved to a table near the back. Then she took out a book from the messenger bag on her shoulder. The title read The Iron Dragon. One of her good friends had told her the best place to meet people was at a coffee shop; just bring a book, sip some coffee, and look friendly. She had never taken his advice, though.

He had stalled most of the day, laying around in his bed with stereo on full blast. No one said anything to him, since everyone was out. His brother had gone somewhere but he wasn't sure where. He really didn't pay attention to what his parents told him before they left. Really, Brady didn't want to get involved in his family's business over the weekend. It was his time to just relax and not care what anyone said to him.
Finally, he rolled off from his bed, beginning to get a headache. He noticed the time as he popped a few Advil into his mouth. Man, i need to get out he thought himself. Brady started to pull on some, so he could look suitable enough for public. A pair of tight jeans, a plain white tee-shirt and a black jacket was what he could muster from his floor. He grabbed his wallet and house keys, while slipping on a pair of vans and went out the door.
It was a great day to go for coffee, or in Brady's case tea. Sometimes he seemed like such a wuss. But he didn't mind. As he walked into the coffee house he took in the sweet aroma. It was much better than the bus he had been sitting on for five minutes before. Hopefully he could ask for a ride from his brother when he wanted to leave. Right now, though Brady was was focused on getting a big cup of herbal tea.
Once he got his tea he took a seat at an empty table. When he looked through the steam from the tea he saw a girl from across him. He squinted and saw she was reading a book with dragon in the title. "Dragons are pretty cool," he said trying to strike up conversation

Ivory had just gotten to the part where Jane, the main character, had lost the iron dragon when she went to college, when she noticed a guy walk into the shop. She recognized him slightly as someone she went to school with, but for his name, she could not remember for the life of her. That didn't matter as she settled back into her book. Ivory ran her hand through her hair and took a sip of her caramel ice blend. It didn't have enough caffeine as she would prefer, but would suffice for now.
After a few minutes, the guy sat down near her, and a minute later she heard someone talking to her. Ivory looked up from her book and gave a half smile toward him. It was more of a pathetic attempt to talk to her, but she found it rather refreshing. Something she would do herself, when there was nothing else much to say. Ivory put down the book, making sure to bookmark her page.
"Yes, I suppose they are," she said back, her smile growing a bit. Ivory had always loved dragons, though she had never dreamed up a dragon much like the one in this book. In The Iron Dragon's Daughter the dragon was more of a machine which could be piloted, though it still had thoughts and appeared to be alive.
Ivory then looked over the guy, noticing he was drinking tea and not coffee. She had been addicted since the beginning of high school and didn't know many people who didn't resort to coffee during midterms or just life itself. "Though Iron Dragons are much cooler," she then added.

Brady looked back down at his cup and took a small sip from the volcanic hot tea. His eyes looked over to her, noticing the girl was responding to him. He nodded along with her. He knew she had to go to go to he school, he just didn't know her name. Though at the moment he really didn't want to know her name. He wasn't really feeling the nicest vibe off of her.
"I prefer my dragons scaley," he said. A smile appeared on his face. Brady was hoping he was making good conversation with this girl. Hopefully, she didn't think he was just some random weirdo. To him, she looked like he could be a potential friend. If she would actually smile at him.

Ivory finally let herself smile at his final response. "Yes, golden scales that glitter even when there isn't any light," she said, her eyes glittering a bit with the thought. She then let a little giggle out before recomposing herself. Dragons were for little boys and girls, but she still loved reading fantasy.
Ivory took another sip of her coffee as she ran one of her fingers down the spine of the book. "Do you like to read?" she asked him, his name still not coming to her. It didn't matter. One time she had spent this great evening with this mysterious man on a black harley and they had never exchanged names or information. She hadn't seen him since, though the memory stayed with her.

A large smile crossed across his face. "That would be awesome," he said, totally engaged by what she said by that. He was really into things that he should grow out of, but he couldn't help but like them. His brother often made fun of him for it, but Brady usually just laughed it off.
He shrugged taking a huge gulp of his drink. His mouth opened wide realizing what he had done. He probably looked like an idiot. Once Brady realized what he was doing he laced his hands back around his cup and smiled at her. "Sometimes. I'm more of a picture book guy," he shrugged.
